City's narrow win at Turf Moor sent them above Arsenal in the title race and condemned Burnley to relegation from the Premier League.
City climb to the summit
Manchester City defeated Burnley 1-0 on 22 April to move to the top of the Premier League, displacing Arsenal in the process.
The win was enough for City to leapfrog Arsenal in the standings, with the two clubs separated by the slimmest of margins at the top of the table.
Burnley relegated
The result also confirmed Burnley's relegation from the Premier League, according to match coverage from the fixture. The defeat ended any realistic hope the club had of escaping the bottom three.
Arsenal respond
Arsenal did not stay second for long. Three days after City's win at Turf Moor, Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0 to reclaim top spot, moving three points clear of City. City, however, hold a game in hand, keeping the title race open.
The two clubs are set to trade top position until the final weeks of the season, with City's game in hand a critical factor in how the standings ultimately settle.
