The cause of death for Celeste Rivas Hernandez was determined months ago but withheld from release, the medical examiner said, as the singer faces first-degree murder charges.
Cause of death released
The medical examiner has ruled that Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 14, died of multiple injuries after her body was found in the car of TikTok singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. The examiner said the determination had been made months earlier but was blocked from public release.
Murder charges
Burke has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the teenager's death. Prosecutors said the nature of the case means he could face life in prison without the possibility of parole, or the death penalty, if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
Child sexual abuse material
Prosecutors separately said Burke possessed a significant amount of child sexual abuse images at the time of his arrest. His attorneys have maintained his innocence and said they would vigorously defend him.
