The Middle East conflict has delivered a devastating blow to the Maldives' tourism economy. Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen revealed 626 international flights cancelled over 45 days.

The crisis peaked when 19 flights were cancelled in one day stranding 3,530 passengers. Every flight to Gulf hubs was grounded.

The Maldives depends on Gulf air routes for ~60% of arrivals. The ADB has slashed growth to 1.0% for 2026.
