The cause of death for 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, found in the US singer's car, was determined months ago but had been blocked from public release, the medical examiner said.

Cause of death released

A medical examiner has ruled that the 14-year-old girl found dead in singer D4vd's car died of multiple injuries, according to the examiner's office. The cause of death had been determined months earlier but was blocked from release until now.

The victim has been identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Murder charges

D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hernandez's death. Prosecutors said the charges carry potential penalties of life without parole or the death penalty.

Burke has pleaded not guilty. His attorneys have maintained his innocence and vowed to "vigorously defend" him.

Additional allegations

Prosecutors have alleged Burke purchased tools online to dispose of Hernandez's body. They have also said he was found to have had a significant amount of child sexual abuse material on his person when he was arrested.

Prosecutors said that, if convicted, the nature of the case means Burke could face life in prison.
