The cause of death for 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was determined months ago but had been blocked from release, the medical examiner said.
Cause of death released
A medical examiner has ruled that the 14-year-old girl found dead in singer D4vd's car died of multiple injuries, according to officials who released the finding after it had been withheld for months.
The medical examiner said the cause of death for Celeste Rivas Hernandez was determined well before its public disclosure but had been blocked from release.
Murder charge and plea
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Rivas Hernandez's death. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors said the charges carry penalties that could include life without parole or the death penalty. If convicted, Burke could face life in prison given the nature of the case, prosecutors said.
Child sexual abuse material allegations
At the time of his arrest, prosecutors said Burke was found to have had a significant amount of child sexual abuse images in his possession. His attorneys have maintained his innocence and said they will vigorously defend him.
